This course is designed to introduce students to the French language and develop their listening, reading, writing, speaking, and grammatical abilities. This course focuses on both accuracy and fluency. This course has been created to provide students with a basic understanding of French and prepare them to communicate at a basic level.
This course will be taught in French. While students may find this challenging in the beginning this methodology will help students improve their French faster, especially their French speaking skills.

Upon completion of this program, the student will:
• Develop basic listening and oral communication skills.
• Know the basics of French pronunciation, spelling and grammar.
• Be able to use these basic forms in both speaking and writing.
• Form simple sentences to express their ideas.
• Pair work, group work and role-plays
• Controlled, semi-controlled and free practices
• Constant review of the covered topics
• Short presentations
• Homework assignments and quizzes
Evaluation is conducted on an ongoing basis via both interpreting the students’ progress and
achievement and administering quizzes and exams as well as giving short presentations.

To progress to the next level, a score of 70% is required.
Students are encouraged to attend classes regularly and will find it difficult to pass if they do not.
Students who miss the final exam will not be eligible to level up.
