With the main focus being on communication skills, the course is intended mainly for intermediate students (students who have already basic grammar). It concentrates on structures which intermediate students want to use, but which often cause difficulty. Some advanced students who have problems with grammar will also find the course useful.

On completion, the successful student will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the form and function of English grammatical structures:
a) By applying self-monitoring techniques to identify and correct errors
b) By demonstrating an accurate application of grammatical rules with minimal assistance from texts or teachers
Interactive grammar explanations and examples
Controlled and semi-controlled practice exercises
Pair and group work focusing on real-life communication
Error correction and feedback during speaking and writing activities
Use of written and oral assignments to reinforce grammar concepts
Regular quizzes and reviews to monitor progress
Self-monitoring and peer review activities to develop editing skills
Written and oral assignments will both serve to build and reinforce the student’s ability to use English grammar correctly and effectively.
Attendance is an integral part of this class. Students who miss more than 3 days per session will find it very difficult to improve or keep up.
