Download Zoom

Download the zoom application. The application works for phones, tablets, or computers, but we recommend using a laptop if possible.

Get Ready

For the best results, we recommend using headphones or earphones. We want you to hear your teacher with the best quality possible!

Join your class

Find your class ID on the list below and check your student portal for the corresponding password. All of our classes have waiting rooms, so make sure to join before the scheduled time.

Our online classes can only be recorded or downloaded for personal use.

How can I join my class?

Finding and joining your class is easy. First, find the name of your class below and check your student portal (https://rciis.ca/students) for the corresponding password.

Can I use Zoom on my smartphone?

Yes! You can use zoom on phones and tablets. If you use your smartphone you will be missing out on some important features, so we recommend using your computer for the best results.

Do I need to use a webcam?

For most of our classes, webcams are highly recommended. We want to keep the experience as close as possible to our in-person classes. This means communicating with your teachers and fellow students 'face to face'.

The only class where webcams are mandatory is our EAP program. To be successful in this class, students will need to complete presentations, debates, final exams, and speaking tests. Without seeing your face, the teacher will be unable to fully evaluate all of these assignments.

What should I do if I can’t hear my teacher?

If you can’t hear your teacher at all, try disconnecting your headset (if you’re using one) or try using the computer speakers. If this doesn’t work, check the audio settings of your computer and make sure the volume is turned up. Restarting your computer (or smartphone) may also be a solution.

What should I do if my teacher can’t hear me?

If your teacher is having trouble hearing you, make sure your microphone is properly connected and you’re not ‘muted’ at the bottom of zoom. If you still have problems, try unplugging your headset (if you’re using one) or restarting your computer.

I got disconnected, what should I do?

If you get disconnected from your class, or the class closes suddenly, just rejoin the class when you can. The class will stay open for the scheduled time, so your teacher will be able to let you back in. If you are having internet connectivity problems, see if other people0 are using the same internet connection.

I can't access my class, what should I do?

1. Update your version of Zoom (Open the Zoom app, click on the icon at the top right and then check for updates).

2. Restart your computer.

3. Do not try to join your class through the browser, access your class through the Zoom application which is installed on your computer instead.

4. Type the password instead of copying and pasting (sometimes copying the password has extra characters).

5. Still not working? Try a different device like a phone or tablet.
