Cafe English

Our uniquely designed program is ideal for students interested in working in cafés, or other areas of customer service.  It bridges the gap between a language classroom and a fast-paced English-speaking work environment by allowing students to practice common workplace scenarios while obtaining specific and immediate one on one feedback from a certified ESL teacher with Starbucks barista qualification.  The students learn the language required to work at a café, and practice it daily.

Some features include:

  • Fast-paced work-related role-plays
  • Q & A meeting with café managers
  • Daily one on one feedback with instructor
  • Resume preparation and interview practice

Curriculum Topics

The classes focus on the language skills needed in a wide range of work-related scenarios.  Some classroom topics include:

  • Dealing with customer complaints
  • Handling money
  • Making beverages
  • Customer service analysis/practice
  • Speaking with co-workers
  • Interview practice

 Methods of instruction

  • Daily handouts with common vocabulary and expressions for class and personal study
